WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT MYSELF:

This project really helped me learn about my empathy and sympathy toward others. When we were packaging the food, I felt bad that all I could give each person way a spoonful. For myself I know I would have wanted more. And now I have started to be more aware of how much food I eat and how I appreciate said food. Also, after we packaged food and when we were all outside we saw some of the people collecting food while we all ate the food we brought with us. This also made me feel bad.

WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT THE COMMUNITY:

I have always gone to private school and from that I have always known and seen people who don’t struggle to get food and even thought a big portion of the island is struggling it has never been something that was near to me. This project has brought me out of that bubble and given me more perspective.

WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT FOOD:

I’ve learnt about the value of food. When we would see the people come to collect their food no one had an attitude or seemed unhappy, they all were very friendly. They all just seemed to be happy to be getting their food. For a number of us food isn’t that special because it’s always at our disposal. This project give me more perspective and see more value toward food.
