Bella Crofts

On the first week of June, I was lucky enough to join the rest of the M5’s, led by Mrs Amaral, in volunteering at Christ Church, packing food and preparing it for those who lean on this community for support. This was done, as the M5’s are required at the end of their academic year to do some form of service and action which is beneficial for the community and hopefully the island as a whole. Each year, the school decides on a form of service for which the group will perform, and it usually lasts approximately a week. After the first day was beyond successful and the group managed to finish all available tasks quite early, it was decided that after serving the food and doing all possible for the Christ Church, the group would move on to picking up trash from the nearby Railway Trail. Therefore, for the next three days a good amount of trash was collected by the group.

Overall, this event was successful, and I believe that we, as the group of M5’s, were successful in the goal. Each member was a part of the service for 2 of the 4 days. This opportunity allowed me to explore my abilities to volunteer and help others. I have discovered the immense joy in which this volunteering service has brought me. I have learned a bountiful number of things revolving around volunteering, serving and preparing food, and also teamwork and collaboration for the greater good. In general, I am beyond grateful for this opportunity which was provided to me by the school, and I feel encouraged to do similar things like this in the future.
