In this service and action project, we cooked meals for needy people alongside the Warwick Christ Church. We completed this service as an act to help out people who may not be as privileged as our class. We were on duty to cook and deliver the meals to three families for one week. Each day we cooked a different style of food.

Working together

Working together

From this experience, I learned a few things – that it is fun to cook with others, how to efficiently cut vegetables and apples, and I learned how to make BBQ chicken and pork chops. Also, I have learned that there are many more families than I thought in Bermuda that are needy that live in small homes. In addition, I learned that if we could help these people more often and consistently and not just help them one time, this can ease their financial situation. If they are caring for young kids or a senior, while looking for a new job, or trying to learn new skills, this meal help may give them the time to do this.

From this experience, I noticed that everyone should have access to a balanced diet to function properly and complete the necessary tasks they need to. If they do not and are hungry a lot or eat too much processed food, their work or studies may not be completed as well or efficiently.
