Arabella's Wonderful Wontons

Arabella's Wonderful Wontons

I chose to make this recipe to make in the write to cook because my family love it, especially my sister. We are an English family, so it isn’t related to my heritage, but I decided to experiment with it one day last year. I cook it with rice and edamame beans on the weekends quite often. I hope everyone at the write to cook enjoyed it and will make it again!

Chinese Dumpling Recipe

1 package of circle or square dumpling wrappers (store bought or homemade, about 350g)

1 package of pork (or meat of choice, pork works best)

1/3 cup of soy sauce

2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

4 - 5 spring onions, chopped

Pepper (optional)

 Method

Step 1. Mix pork soy sauce vegetable oil and spring onions until fully combined.

Step 2. Fold 1 ½ a teaspoon of mixture into the center of the wrapper. Fold as desired, adding water round the edges to make it stick together.

Step 3. Coat the bottom of the frying pan in oil and let it heat up. You can have more than one batch going at once, and might need to do more than one or two batches

Step 4. Put 5 – 10 dumplings in the frying pan, depending on the size. Cook for 2 minutes or so one side and cook for another 1 minute on the other side.

Step 5. Add about 3 -5 tablespoons of water, put a lid on the pan and let it evaporate.

Step 6. Dry your dumplings on a paper towel and serve with soy sauce.
