Aaliyah's "O"—mazing Oreo Truffles
My recipe is Oreo truffles. I chose this recipe because every year my dad’s sister Malika and her daughter Hayat come to Bermuda. Every time they come, we make Oreo truffles; it’s like a tradition we do. I Loveeee Oreos and I love chocolate so I thought why not make Oreo truffles? You can make them with sprinkles or with nuts and you can basically add any topping you want to make it your own. Another reason why I love Oreo truffles is that they melt in your mouth while you eat them.
RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
36 Oreo cookies
· 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
· 16 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate, candy melts, or almond bark
Directions:
1. Add the cookies to a blender or food processor. Close the blender or food processor and pulse the cookies for a few seconds at a time until the cookies are broken down into fine crumbs.
2. Spoon the crushed Oreos into a medium mixing bowl. Add the cream cheese. Stir until the cream cheese is completely blended with the crushed Oreos.
3. Shape into 48 (1-inch) Oreo balls. Freeze the balls for 10 minutes.
4. While the cookie balls are freezing, melt the chocolate according to the package instructions.
5. Dip the chilled balls into the melted chocolate. Place the balls in a single layer on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet.
6. If you wish, sprinkle the cookie balls with cookie crumbs, sprinkles, nuts, or nonpareils while the chocolate is still soft and warm.
Refrigerate the Oreo Balls for 1 hour or until firm.
